It has been a while since dotMobi has announced any Premium Name news, but we are excited to announce our next online auction which will take place in partnership with Sedo during 5-12 November, 2008. The auction will see the sale of 200 great generic names, including the much sought after games.mobi! Games.mobi was part of the voided Sedo/dotMobi auction held in December 2007 and the domain is now clear to go under the hammer once again.
Many readers will be familiar with what happened last year when unprecedented bidding activity on dotMobi's Premium Names caused Sedo's servers to buckle under pressure. Sedo has now thoroughly addressed the technical issues and dotMobi is confident that everything has been done to ensure that demand will be met.
The auction will follow a seven-day format and will be conducted in accordance with Sedo's terms and conditions. Any names sold as part of this auction will also be subject to the dotMobi End User Auction Agreement. This Agreement is similar to the Agreement used for previous Sedo and T.R.A.F.F.I.C. auctions in that it binds the winning bidder to specific content obligations. For this auction, however, there will be a nine-month development window allowed for full and relevant content rather than the six-month window which was previously given (and subsequently extended) to past bidders. This change has been made in response to market feedback.
Bidders should consult the Agreement carefully before participating in the auction as dotMobi reserves the right to take back a name in the case of non-compliance and has recently launched its Premium Name Compliance Program in respect of previous auctions.
Further details about the auction, including the list of 200 names and the End User Agreement are available at http://premiumauction.mobi. Any queries and questions may also be submitted to premium@mtld.mobi.
